Very Molier-y
Very Moliery is a comic romp that pays homage to the style and writing of the
audience away on the wildest hour of their lives.
Our heroine Molly has written a great piece for the school newspaper exposing
the plight of the underprivileged and poor. But the editor Trinity refuses to publish
it, saying that people don't want to think about icky things. They just want
pleasant, fun things to dwell upon.
When a celebrity visits the school, Molly realizes this may be her chance. She
cuts a deal with Trinity, if she can get a picture of the camera shy celebrity, the
paper must publish her story.
Molly now has 45 minutes to get the photo and what unfolds is tangled web of
characters and obstacles. It's a race through the jungleland of high school.
Through the artists, cheerleaders, jocks, Thespians, home-ec designers and
more. Can Molly overcome each hurdle and get the photo.
But Very Moliery is much more than a simple romp. It thoughfully (although
frantically) explores the meaning of art and substance. If art is popular, is it true
art, or does that come simply through suffering? If something is 400 years old,
does that make it irrelevant? Can art entertain and still make people think?
All these questions and more must be answered before time runs out.
