| BERGERACKY If you want something done at Rostand High, you go to Sydney. She's the go-to girl with the drive. The girl with the brains. The girl with.... the nose. Yeah, Sydney has a large nose, if by large you mean gigantically huge. So gargantuan in fact she's accepted the fact that she will never find true love. But when Royce transfers to the school, Sydney loses her heart to this hunky poet. Trouble is, Royce is falling for Kristine, the biggest babe on the cheerleading squad. But while Kris may be eye candy, she feels she's got nothing going on between the ears. To rub salt in the wound, Sydney ends up playing matchmaker between Kris and Royce by making the guy think his cheerleader has Sydney's brains and silver tongue, which is really what Royce is attracted too in the first place. Bergeracky is a way modern update of Edmond Rostand's classic piece Cyrano de Bergerac. Only this telling is a rock and roll musical. With the genders swapped. And lots of both may and hem. It's also a very poignant study of teen acceptance and self esteem. With jokes. It will play in Rep with the mainstage production of Cyrano De Bergerac! How cool is that? |
